Hi guys, just bought a FOCAL XL-303 super8mm cam.I'm a newbie who likes to shoot his first roll of film.I have a projector so I'll probably be going with positive/reversal film stock.

My cam says it takes ASA 25/40 & 100/160--What kind of stock does this mean I can use of all those offered by KODAK?Remember I need reversal so I'm pretty limited with my options but again what does this ASA mean exactly?

    Thanks for all your help!

ASA is the films speed. Lower ASA film like Kodacrhome 40 needs more light to expose correctly than does a 160 ASA film.

Sounds like your camera is designed to read two different film speeds only. The film cartridges are notched and the camera reads that. Kodachrome 40 will work fine BUT its being discontinued. The new film Ektachrome 64T will be read incorrectly and will result in overexposure. Though you may try a roll and see how it comes out. You can also use plus-x or tri-x black & white which should work fine.
